I am free to live

There's been a lot on my mind recently, but there's one thing that for about 4/5 years I've been thinking about- and I recognise that this is completely unrelated to the usual fashion I write about- human trafficking. Conservative estimates put the figure of human slaves at around 27 million; CONSERVATIVE. I've given money to organisations like stop the traffik, for more information. They're all about publicising the issue, informing people and I just want to help somehow. I'm young, but that doesn't mean I can't make a difference, right? There are so many women, young, like me, that have to go through such horrific pain emotionally and physically. They dis-attach themselves from their bodies, just to be able to survive. I'm going through exams at the moment, and every now and then I get stressed, but then I remember, that's nothing. Please just take a look at this video, have a look at a few websites- the A21 campaign, or Tigers Against Trafficking

If that's too much, or even if its not, have a look at this jewellery, done by survivors of human trafficking, from http://store.nightlightinternational.com/

I will go down with this ship

Some of you may know that its election day in the UK today. I was about to paint my nails blue, but then realised people might think I was supporting the conservatives through this movement, although I can't vote anyway, I didn't want to upset anybody especially as I live very near to a very liberal democrat area. So I decided to go with grey, a colour that I don't think any political party is represented by, unless they're some small group that has only just been created for this election :S. So where's the fashion://? It's here; blue, red and yellow. The colours of the three main parties, although at the debates Nick Clegg (yellow/lib dem) was wearing an orange tie, which disappointed me, I was hoping to see a flash of yellow in the middle. If you're not British, this probably is meaningless and boring and you've probably stopped reading by now. A makeup related item for each major party from one of my favourite websites- shanalogic.com

Yeah, I've been to Jupiter

It has been a long time since I have last posted. I have been ever so busy, and also got stranded abroad due to a volcano deciding to blow. Stuck on holiday for an extra week doesn't seem so bad, but when you have major exams coming up it puts a bit of a downer on the whole experience. However, I'm back now and did some shopping yesterday and this is what this post is going to be about- shoes. I bought a pair of brogues which are gorgeous, I've been looking for a pair for months now, I saw this white pair in topshop, but they didn't have them in my size so I kept looking. The brown pair from asos.com are rather like mine, but more expensive- seeing as mine are from TKMaxx. The Swarovski crystal studded pair are by Melissa, not really my taste- bit too sparkly, but nonetheless quite eye catching especially with the patent gloss. I really like the lilac Carvela brogues, they're really girly and sweet compared to most brogues. I can't find a picture of my shoes on the internet and my cable has temporarily displaced itself so I can't upload a picture :( I apologise for the layout, I really haven't got a hang of this yet. All I wonder is if I'm still going to like them next year, because I know fashion changes quickly, but some things stay in longer and I really hope these do because they're so comfy. I'll wear them anyway, just don't really want too many strange looks.

Here's a little song I wrote, you might want to sing it note for note

It is one of those chilled evenings, sat on my deskchair that leans far too far back, listening to reggae. All I could do with now is a nice warm decaff by my side. Nonetheless, this state of being relaxed inspired me to write, and this time about this lovely designer Laura Theiss. Her expertise is in knitwear and her fall 2010 collection is inspired by Samurai's. Hence the model's look. I'm not usually a fan of knitwear, but this is gorgeous. It is making me seriously considering getting on board the cardigan train. (strange metaphor, I know) Those patchwork tights are amazing too. I've always had a love for coloured tights, I was one of, (thinking about it now,) I was the first to start wearing opaque coloured tights when I was in my early teens, (yeah I'd like to think I started that trend, [unlikely though it is]). These tights have a more superior feel though to my red, blue and tartan tights from then. The ruched black shirt/top is lovely too, I think I'd need to wear it with something underneath during autumn though as I generally feel the cold. This reminds me of that episode of ANTM cycle 13(the one with the petite models?) where they have to fly about as samurais.

I don't wanna walk ess oh ell oh

Ohh I love the Blonds, the glamour & glitz. Although if you ever saw me walking down the street you would not guess this, but I love the idea of being caught up in a whirlwind of sequins, sparkles and studs. Their Fall 2010 collection is no disappointment. Models walking onto the catwalk in animal costume and stripping down to couture. What I really appreciate about the Blonds is that they stick to their thing, they're not trying to hone in on the pastel cutesy look, (not that that's bad), or the tough chic military look etc. That black jacket-dress and huge necklace combo is beautiful. Although I'm not too sure on the thigh high boots, I so want those glittering silver Louboutins, which go surprisingly well with those zebra striped tights. Thus, if this is what fall 2010 has got to offer designer-wise, I can't wait for it.

I got my exam results back today, and lets just say, I'm very happy :) :) :)

My winning streak is missing

So today, I'm going to look at the best of bling for this Spring's High St (online) looks, apologies for bad put together, I only have paint, might get back to photoshop soon as my own laptop should be getting fixed soon :), its been broken for about 2 months now. I'm rather disappointed with the high st. really, they've really toned down what was on the catwalks. I was expecting to see full length embellished dresses, but I've seen sequins and a few buttons. However, this amazing bandau I found astounded me. I think its beautiful and its on asos.com by One Teaspoon for a mere £120, you may think, wow that's a lot for just a small top, but really look at the detailing on it, beautiful. I really don't know how to upload this montage in a good size either, I'm generally good at technical things, but maybe its just paint :S. Anywayys, have you seen any spring bling in the stores or online? Because all that's around in my ends are sequins, which are okay sometimes, eg- on my new cardigan, but not so much covering a whole blazer, which I have seen around. Just my opinion though, maybe there are some nice sequined blazers which I have failed to see. I went to the zoo today, so I'm pretty tired again, the monkeys were so cute, and I'm not one to usually see the appeal of animals, then again the smell of the giraffes was pretty...unforgettable.

We'll run until we're strong enough to jump

I'm so tired, and its just been a weekend in which I spent most of my time watching films, very confusing. Thus, I'm doing something different. I'm finding my favourite online highstreet looks of the moment, and their link to what was seen on spring/summer catwalks back in 2009. This is just a start. I'm incredibly fatigued, and shall be preparing for bed, as soon as this is posted at 9.35 pm, wow.
I hope this is okay, if you don't like the idea just tell me, I really don't mind :)
